Bush fire dress In the year 2001 I participated in the Thupelo Workshop outside Cape Town in South Africa. I made a piece that derived from a mountain bush fire that happened some weeks before my arrival. Out of existing material I sew a dress, which I prepared as a canvas. I choosed a distance on the mountain that I had to walk every day during the ten days of the workshop. The charcoaled branches made marks on the dress as I walked. Starting of as a shiny white canvas the dress ended up as a black and very distinct charcoal drawing.
